shamanic pranayama
Henry Kandel
We'll breathe together and perform a few gentle stretches to expand our breathing space.
Then folks will learn a simple pranayama -- a breath practice that is both energizing and relaxing. We'll perform this beautiful pranayama together to a shamanic rhythm, as a didgeridoo plays, allowing us to feel the vibrations in our bodies as we breathe.
Finally, there will be a guided meditation that "cycles consciousness" around the body to induce a state of deep relaxation and peace.
Speaking the Spirit Language: Shamanic Breathwork, Humming, and Chanting
Penguin
While many in the West conflate shamanism with trancing through medicine work, there are as many ways to trance as there are ways to mindfully dance through the universe. One of these ways is by intentional breathing and death-rattle humming. In this group activity, Penguin will lead participants on a journey that includes shamanic breathwork to initiate trance, resonant humming to deepen trance, and spirit language chanting to project trance. We will start with individual trances, move to dyadic conversational trances, and finish with a joyous group humming and chanting circle as we greet the sunset. No prior experience is needed, and an integration circle will follow!
cacao ceremony
Sam Cetrulo
Cacao is a beautiful grounding and gathering tool used ceremonially in traditional Mayan culture. Together, we will embark on a heart-opening journey, taking the time to savor and receive the spiritual and physical benefits of this sacred plant through intention setting, meditation, and sharing from the heart,
100% pure, fair trade ceremonial cacao from Maya Moon Cacao will be served for this offering.

Tap in with Soma for a ceremonial fire lighting to ignite our inner light and focus our heart beat as one!
A community care and integration workshop where we will facilitate discussions about the value of community spaces, specifically regarding festivals, nightlife, and dance/music environments. We will lead discussions, guiding the group to explore ways we can keep each other safe as a community in these spaces and discuss what community care can look like. We will also discuss, as an aspect of community care, how to be intentional in these spaces, how to set intentions and how to integrate. On the final day of the festival, our workshop will include an integration circle where people can discuss and process their experience and talk about how they would like to integrate takeaways from their experience into their life post retreat.
interactive soundscape & animism
Yuj
This is a discussion and application to bring more understanding to the interconnected relationship between memories and identity and how our experience of reality is affected by it. We will bring insight from a multi-cultural standpoint in how humans interacted with the world around them and within them.
The discussion follows an immersive soundscape and guided meditation utilizing bodily postures and breathwork aiming to invite you into a trance state to explore memory and identity.
Morgana, DJ & Adrea, Warm Up
Ecstatic dance is a form of freeform movement where participants let go of inhibitions and dance to the rhythm of the music without following any structured steps or routines. It's a way to express oneself authentically through movement in a supportive and non-judgmental environment.
ECSTATIC DANCE NYACK GUIDELINES
1. First, Dance with Yourself: If you choose to dance with others, do so from a place of giving, not taking. All physical contact with fellow dancers must be consensual. Consent is Freely Given, Reversible, Informed, Enthusiastic, and Specific (FRIES). To separate from a dance partner, you can show hands in prayer to signal your respectful departure.
2. No Alcohol: Movement is medicine. The spirit of alcohol is not welcome at Ecstatic Dance Nyack. To maintain a space of sensitivity, authentcity, awareness, and clarity, we
invite you to experience the depths of your own being without alcohol. Plant medicine is welcome only if used privately, respectfully and responsibly. No smoking within 50 feet of the premises.
3. No Speaking: Ecstatic Dance empowers participants to explore and express themselves with movement and body language. The cessation of speech unblocks wellsprings of feeling and emotion that are otherwise limited by words. Connect with yourself and others in a new way.
4. No Phones: Haven't you spent enough time looking at it already?
5. No Photography or Video: What happens here stays here. To allow for fully authentic expression and exploration of our deepest emotions, free from all forms of shame and guilt, participants can be assured that their experience will never be known outside the walls of Ecstatic Dance Nyack.
6. No Shoes: To stay grounded, protect everyone’s feet, and maintain cleanliness, please do not wear shoes on the dance floor. Socks and special indoor-only dance shoes are permitted.
7. Be Yourself: This is a judgment-free zone. Allow your body the freedom to move however it needs. All ranges of emotion and expression are welcome here, from joy to sorrow, and everything else. Let movement and music guide you to feel and display every part of yourself. All of you is welcome here.

For the uninitiated, a Death Cafe is an informal space to discuss death, dying, mortality, and grief with a curious and non-judgemental lens in community.
Psychedelic journeys often bring us into contact with the very simple facts of life... and death. Often during journeys, near death like experiences, ego death, and other mystical phenomena allow for an intimate felt-sense connection with death. Join us as we discuss the ways our psychedelic experiences and that of others in our lives may contribute to our interest and understanding of death.
